About Rock Dove Farm

Todd and Heather Schriver

Our food philosophy closely follows what local food icon Alice Waters says in the introduction to Chez Panisse Vegetables,

"The terminal handling of a vegetable in the kitchen before it is eaten is far less important for taste than what kind of variety it is, where and how it is grown, when it was harvested, and how long it has taken to get to your kitchen. Cooking is only a small part of this."

Rock Dove Farm is focused on growing the very best tasting vegetables and fruits, many of our products are heirloom varieties. We are committed to the best, purest growing practices: we're seeking Organic Certification and are completely chemical-free. We value diversity. We're always trying out new crops: artichokes, fruit trees, bramble berries, a host of regional Italian vegetable varieties; in the pursuit of better tasting crops that are more suited to our climate and soils.

We're improving this farms carrying capacity - its ability to produce the same amount or more food with less input. Our goal is to be nitrogen and carbon independent; importing nothing but a little lime and rock phosphate, which "walks off of the farm" when we deliver or sell our produce.

Owner-operator Todd Schriver has been growing vegetables professionally since 2006 starting as the production manager at Wayward Seed Farm. In the spring of 2010 Todd purchased some land and started Rock Dove Farm with his wife, Heather.
